Al M. Poteet III of Johnson City Declares Candidacy to Represent the 21st Congressional District of Texas.

Al Poteet…strong on defense…strong on borders… strong on REAL affordable and accessible healthcare…strong on veterans…strong on Second Amendment rights…a record of leadership and achievement.

Johnson City, TX — Al Poteet has officially filed and declared his candidacy to represent the 21st Congressional District in the US House of Representatives. He will run on the Republican ticket in the March 6, 2018 primary.

With deep Texas roots, Poteet is a good neighbor and has the energy, experience, and leadership skills to serve his fellow Texans in the 21st district. His family originally settled in a community south of San Antonio that became Poteet, Texas, that is widely known for its annual Strawberry Festival. He and his wife, Miriam, reside in the 21st district in Johnson City, Texas.

“I believe our country urgently needs real leadership, practical experience, common sense, and a passion to make government work for the people, not the other way around,” Poteet said. “If elected, I will hold the executive branch responsible for their actions, reduce the size and scope of the bureaucracy, and get the government off your backs!”

Poteet has 35 years of practical, wide-ranging experience as a senior executive in both the public and private sectors. He successfully worked at the Department of Veterans Affairs in Washington, DC and in the field as a Regional Office and a Medical Center Director. He served veterans during the Reagan Administration as Associate Deputy Administrator for Congressional & Intergovernmental Affairs and later as a cabinet-level Deputy Assistant Secretary.

Poteet is a decorated US Army combat aviator with two deployments to the Republic of Vietnam as a Cobra attack helicopter pilot having served with the Air Cavalry in both the 1st Aviation Brigade and 82nd Airborne. His combat awards are the Air Medal for valor, the Vietnamese Cross of Gallantry with Bronze Star, and later the Bronze Star with valor for ground action.

“I will work for you and no one else,” Poteet said. “I will be your voice in the Halls of Congress.” He shares your concern that the dangerous issues and abuse of power facing our country are eroding our liberty and way of life. Furthermore, Poteet said, “I will be a conservative voice with a record of leadership, experience, and accomplishment that I will put to work for you.”

Beginning this week, Poteet will attend events around the district and make himself available to listen and discuss issues that concern you. Please contact him if you would like to have him appear at a specific event. Please visit the campaign website at PoteetForCongress.com.
